Rare Antique Richard Ward Salem Bridge Shelf Clock, 8-day, Weight Driven. Ward Was One Of The Later Salem Bridge Makers. He Took Over The Sylvester Clark Factory When Clark Retired In 1835. He Continued In Business Until 1845. Around 1840, He Redesigned The Movement To Be Mounted To The Weight Channels Instead Of A Seatboard. This Is One Of The Later Clocks With The Elongated Rectangular Movement. I Believe This Model Of Movement May Be Quite Rare, And No Example Can Be Found In The Nawcc Supplement 13 On Salem Bridge Clocks. This Example Is In Very Nice Condition. I Don't See Any Problems With The Veneer, And The Figured Column Veneer Is Stunning. The Movement Runs, And Looks To Be In Good Shape, But I Am Sure It Hasn't Been Serviced In A Long Time. The Dial Is In Great Shape With No Extra Holes.
